my heart breaks

Fri Jan 22
Emily’s 1st visit with Dr Quintana.
Diagnosed with Jaundice.
Blood test at Lab.
Lab results show a mild case of jaundice.
Make appointment to come back tomorrow for another Dr check up and blood test.
Milk comes in!!

Sat Jan 23
Back to the Doctor and lab for another blood test.
So proud of how strong Emily is being.
Lab results come back and are not good.
Admit Emily into the hospital for 24 hours.
Katelyn isn’t able to come to the 3rd floor. So a quick, sad goodbye and Emily and I are on our own.
After nursing her she is placed in “the box.”
I told her to pretend she was on vacation somewhere sunny and warm.
I am emotional. blame it on the just giving birth hormones.
so fortunate it isn’t something more serious.
i couldn’t imagine!
zack is able to come be with us for a couple hours while Bean gets a visit from Grandma and Grandpa.
it was a LONG night
but so happy her morning blood test came back with lower numbers
and we get to go home!
well, after a very long wait at the pharmacy.
i was so tired and exhausted
and this close to choking the lady behind the counter!
thankfully i was able to nap a bit.
so so so happy to be home!

Tues Jan 26
Back to the lab for another blood test.
Emily is eating and pooping regularly.
Crossing my fingers for low numbers!!
enough pricks in my baby's heels already!!!

our "new" everyday

lovin' the Canon G11...it makes capturing the everyday so easy. granted the pics aren't technically perfect, but they are emotionally perfect (term borrowed from Karen Russel) and i love them!!!

Disclaimer: this is the morning after i stayed overnight at the hospital with Emily. needless to say, i am NOT looking my best LOL! i was hoping the Sepia tone would hide the dark circles under my eyes.
but LOVE LOVE LOVE how Bean wanted to nurse her baby doll! boppy pillow and all!

bean in all her cuteness!!!

first car ride together!

my growing heart

at first i wasn't sure who Emily looked like.
i didn't see Bean in her, but i do in Angela's photos.
zack sees him in her.
i kind of see my eye shape.
she has the sweetest lil nose!!!
long skinny legs.
even longer toes!

i have tons to blog about....too little time though!
take a peek at Angela's blog for some AMAZING photos of our little Emily!

Cheers! Krista

welcome to {crazy} town

holy roller coaster ride we've been on...

ok, so i am LOVING maternity leave but,
it hasn't been the ideal picture of R&R.
but like i've said before,
us Lunds never do it simply!!!
we sold our home in Sept 09.
moved in with my aunt for 2mos.
rented a place with a 6 mos lease.
said why not?
let's start looking for a house in livermore again.
the first house we were sent by our agent, we loved.
saw it on a Tues.
in the dark with flashlights.
wrote an offer on a Saturday
b/c it was due the Monday after Christmas at 8am.
who works like that?
anyway.
offer has been accepted. :)
we got to see the house in the daylight.
got a stamp of approval from stepdad (a general contractor)
moving forward with inspections on Wed.
close date is potentially Feb 12.
yep, 3 days after my due date!
we are scrambling to get our loan processed.
we may have 2 mos left on our lease.
we will have to find renters
on top of...
finding a new daycare :(
packing
moving
unpacking
painting
buying appliances
redo the flooring???
which is very high on zack's priority list
and would be nice to have done before we moved
while revamping KLP
editing sessions and photos
oh!
and have a baby!
phew!

i think i need a nap! LOL
i will keep you posted.

Introducing Emily Jewel Lund 01.20.10

born at 1:01am
on Jan 20, 2010
20in
6.5#
beautiful, healthy and loved!!

during her hearing test- she passed with flying colors :)

Grandma and Grandpa oohing and aahing.

Emily has had many visitors:
Grandma Susi
April, Phil and Ashley
Greg and Jenelle
Jp and Jessica
Nancy, Mike, Kyle
Grandpa Keko
Jaky

Thanks for all the texts, phone calls, emails and FB messages :)
Thanks Nancy for the YUMMY pot of soup- just perfect!!

The Birth Story....
I hadn't feeling "right" for most of the weekend- super tired and an upset stomach. Sophie was clingy. Katelyn was a snugglebug- love that!
I couldn't sleep well Tues night.
ZAck either.
He ended up on the couch.
Bean woke up at 4:45am.
Zack laid her back down and came to bed.
I couldn't fall back asleep after that.
I went out to the couch.
Bean woke up again at 5:30am.
I put her back down and
went back to the couch.
BEan woke again at 6am.
When I sat up I was like UH OH!! Leakage!
lots of leakage!
Went into her room...
more leakage!
I told her
"Hold on! I need to tell Daddy something."
I went into our room and said
"Zack my water broke!"
he jumped out of bed.
got bean.
i ran to get towels.
i called my mom and caught her on her way to work- great timing!
i called Labor and Delivery.
They told me to take our time- eat, pack, shower, etc.
i put a load of laundry in and got packing.
so not prepared!
looking for boppy cover, pump pieces, bottles....
admitted at 9am
in L+R room by 10am
progressing slowly
watched Wedding Crashers (twice), The Little Mermaid and Up
pitocin started
epidural given at 2cm
progressing slowly like with Bean
napped
had company...
so sad Bean couldn't come to the 2nd floor.
it was hard knowing she was down stairs and i couldn't be with her!
missing her tons!!
making delivery time guesstimations...
those times pass.
Grandmas go out to get a snack.
i ask if i can "push the button"
and get a little more pain relief
b/c i am feeling constant pressure down low.
get checked and i am at 10cm!
Grandmas come back and they think we are kidding.
we get the bed and room ready to welcome the baby.
nurse tells me to push with the next contraction.
it is Go Time! Push!
Wait! Don't push!
Nurse is calling for other nurses and the midwife.
FINALLY everyone is as ready as the baby.
midwife tells me to cough.
what?
so i cough twice and BABY IS HERE!!!
a soft sweet cry!
a teeny tiny beautiful, happy baby.
emotional new parents!
"what is her name" we are asked.
Zack and I look at each other and say
"Emily? Yah Emily."
later we gave her her middle name "jewel"
after my late Grandmother Betty :)

First of MANY photo shoots!
Who do you think she looks like?
lighter skin tone than Bean like Zack.
I think more like me :)
lighter hair than Bean.
small, perfect features!

christmas with friends

yes, i am still trying to get through all my holiday photos!
i promised T and Shea i would get these done ASAP...
we had a wonderful evening together.
the girls got along GREAT and it was nice for the adults to be able to chat and catch up while the littles ran amuck :)
it was a little more difficult to get a photo of the 2 crazy lil ones!
we've been spending the holiday together since the girls were born in 2006. it was a bit easier when we could just prop them up on the couch and snap away. now we are dealing with pouty, sad faces and "No way, mama!"
we did plan for the girls to match (did i even get a photo of them in their matching T's??)
Shea and I almost wore the same sweater too! wouldn't that have been funny?
look at me big ol belly!
you can't even tell Shea is preggers!!!
thanks girls for visiting! T all the way from NY and The Seffens from Rocklin!
i had such a full warm heart after your visit!

Del Ossos Snow Park | Family Fun

oh Bean! This was not your day! I don't know when and where it went wrong.
we drove out to Lathrop to see the snow...Zack really wanted to see the real snow, but my schedule was too jam packed. bad mommy! so we settled on Del Ossos Farm where they brought in snow or made it there...i don't know?
Bean had a tude! Boy, did she ever!!
She didn't want to do anything that we wanted her to. She definitely had a mind of her own.
We did get to see horses and reindeer.
She wandered around the tree farm and watched some kids race tricycles.
We bought some yummies from the general store and looked at all the twinkling lights and decorations.
She didn't want to play in the snow.
Just stood back or with one of us and watched.
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to go (this ain't no secret either!) is i wanted pics of her in her adorable snow outfit.
I took a total of 19 where normally I would have shot 100+!!
We struggled to get the snow boots on but didn't succeed, but she still looked super cute! pouty, but cute!
Then we decided no one is really having any fun, let's go!
Bean didn't want to get in the car. I bribed her with everything I had and she finally got in and buckled up.
She bit into one of her snack puffs and must have bit her lip or tongue or the inside of her cheek.
That pissed her off!!
Poor Zack! His nerves were so raw and this wasn't helping.
I tried to give her mini m&ms...more howling!
poor girl! i knew she was hungry.
I kept telling her to hold on until we got to Gma and Gpa's.
She was still in a sour mood when we arrived.
We tried to get her to eat anything and everything: green beans, ice cream....nope!
Finally Gma offered her a piece of plain white Wonder bread and that did the trick! She ate 4!
And was a new woman!

watching the big kids tube down the snow hill

my adorable lil stay puff marshmallow!!

safe in daddy's arms watching the big kids throw snowballs.

Next season we will have to make it to the real snow :)

images by Bean

do you think it is too early to get her her own logo? LOL!!

holy baby belly!

we are happy Sophie seems to be doing better. she is a little camera shy :)

got to love the at-an-arm's-length-photo

look at my messy desk!

remember to get in the photos (even if you didn't wash your hair or put make up on. hey, i'm on maternity leave!) sneaky sophie trying to get in a lick!

thumbs up to a PERFECT evening with the fam!!

this night was FULL of fun and Sass! Bean even says "I'm sassy!" now. oh boy!
she was taking pics of me.
i was taking pics of her.
we were taking pics of each other.
Daddy joined in on the fun.

later we built "castles" with blocks.
built blanket forts.
and Bean served all of us, including Sophie, water and cupcakes from her lil kitchen.
loved every minute of it!

for my photog friends:
all taken with Rebel XT, Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 lens
(just hoping she doesn't drop it...i already did that once!)
FLASH (i shudder as I type this but i haven't taught her to shoot in Manual yet LOL!) was in FULL effect
edited in LR using Kevin Kubota's Old Film LR Preset- easy peasy and fast! perfect for these snapshots!
further processed in PS: noiseware, edge sharpening, save for the web.

and some I took of Bean....

i love this one b/c it looks like she is checking her settings to make sure she got a correct exposure :)

I am peeking in on Bean and Daddy before joining in on the fun!
look at her messy room! i think it is hilarious that you can see her toy organizer still in the box!!!

and more for my photog friends:
taken with my Canon 5D, 24-70mm 2.8 lens
NO flash was used. i cranked up my ISO to 1600-3200 and shot wide open at f/2.8
processed in LR
applied Lily Blue's Wisteria LR preset (gives it that pink glow that i really like)
further processed in PS: noiseware, edge sharpening, save for the web.

don't forget to capture the everyday!!
