Best Buddies

The other weekend we had our Annual Girlfriends Holiday Ornament exchange. I just love love love these parties. The kids play great together. Us girls get to catch up. i am so happy all 5 (Kristin, Nicole, Emily, Angela and me) of us could come this time!
We ate and chatted...enjoyed each other's company. We then held our Ornament Exchange and the kiddos even got involved stealing ornaments! We came home with a Starbucks mug ornament. This makes up for the one we broke :( Emily made a delish cinnamon roll dish- YUM!! I look forward to making it on Christmas morning.

Emily's Cinnamon Roll YUMMO dish recipe
2 pkgs. refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
(I buy the ones in the green Pillsbury package:Pillsbury Hungry Jack
Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits - 12 Oz)
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 teaspoons cinnamon (or to your liking)
1/3 cup chopped nuts (optional- never have had it with the nuts)
2 sticks melted butter (1 cup)
Grease 9 inch round cake pan. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Combine cinnamon and sugar (and nuts if using). Dip each biscuit into
melted butter and then into sugar mixture. Place each biscuit into
pan overlapping 15 in outer circle and 5 in middle. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until brown.
After taking out of the oven, immediately invert on to serving plate.
Drizzle with glaze.
Glaze:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4ish teaspoon vanilla
2 to 3 Tablespoons milk
Combine ingredients to desired consistency (adding more or less milk)
and drizzle over coffee cake before serving.

I am just in love with these photos. Katelyn who is usually my unwilling model was all oogly eyes over Caleb and it made for some super cute photos. When Ryder was done having his diaper changed he joined in on the fun too although he wasn't a fan of Katelyn's affections.

Niles Train of Lights

oh my goodness! what a wonderful night we had! it was questionable if were even going to go because it was stormy. real grey and UGLY! actually, earlier that afternoon bean and i were at emily's for our girlfriend get together and it was beautiful blue skies. but as we just about home to meet up with Zack and his parents, it started coming down and got real dark! luckily it let up and we headed to the Train Depot.
We are definitely going to make this an annual tradition!

waiting for departure

cozying up with Grandpa and Grandma...this is basically where she stayed the whole ride.

looking into the train. we haven't left yet and it is not quite dark yet so the lights aren't on.

seeing Santa. it looks like she was a bit scared. but she wasn't at all. she said "hi santa claus" and "ho ho ho!" and "thank you" for the candy cane he gave her. it was so cute and i just love seeing the magic of Christmas through her eyes!

waving hi and blowing kisses to the other train passing by

Carolers!

pit stop in Sunol. look at all the pretty lights!

UGH! I dropped my camera again! so so so sad! this time it was my GOOD camera and even better lens! again, my filter saved my lens...or at least helped a little. I sent off my lens to Canon to try to remove the bent filter and fix the focussing mechanism. I seriously need to be more careful :(
i rented a 35mm 1.4L from borrowlenses.com to get me through the holidays and two large family shoots :)

uh oh! maybe a new lens for my wish list????

lovin' bean bags!!

i borrowed two bean bag chairs from our old neighbors (Thanks B Family!) for a newborn shoot and Bean fell in love with them.
laying on them
jumping on them
putting her babies to sleep on them
covering up with them
putting them on daddy
pretending to sleep on them

she was said to see them go!
BUT....I ordered one through PBK with Auntie Emily's help. Little did I know I ordered the SUPER HUMUNGO JUMBO one! It is GIGANTIC!! (I think I have a pic of her on it and you can't even see her!) But she loves it just the same!

**ps**look at our living room floor! you can see katelyn has been busy!

how did we do it:
"Bake" Rice Krispie Treats
Decorate with LOTS of Holiday candy sprinkles.
Cut into squares.
Fill snack sized baggies.
Create Bag Toppers in Photoshop.

lost and found....

oh my goodness! did i blog any photos from our family beach trip in nov??? i can't find a blog post with them on except this before and after post/photo.

anyway..in november the family headed to half moon bay to celebrate my late grandmother's birthday. we had a wonderful day just enjoying each other's company. eating lunch, taking pics, playing football, building sandcastles...all things grandma would have enjoyed watching us do. we didn't specifically do anything special, like say a prayer or say something each of is remembered. but i know at some point we all thought about her like:
we ate her favorite kind of cookie for lunch
we visited one of her favorite places- the beach
we picked up a bag of cheetos for lunch- another fave of hers
we hung out all together- what we do best. what she loved most!
oh my goodness! bean was exhausted! she crashed the second she got in the car and the way her head was thrown back in her chair and her mouth open snoring slightly was JUST LIKE GRANDMA! i chuckled softly to myself.
perfect ending to a perfect day!!
